Bold, flavor exploding, sweet, caramelized bbq sauce. Perfect for a smoked beef sandwich, bratwurst, and pork.
Bourbon and honey are a fine mixture on their own but the flavor explodes when used in barbecue sauce. Huge thank you to Garrison Brothers for sending us this bottle of bourbon. The honey is perfectly balanced in this full-bodied whiskey.
1 cup ketchup
1/2 white onion, finely minced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons bourbon
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon peanut oil
1 tablespoon HLM BBQ Razzle Dazzle
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Heat peanut oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Dice onion and garlic and fry until the onion is translucent. 3-5 minutes.
Carefully, deglaze the pan with Garrison Brother’s HoneyDew Bourbon. Bourbon may ignite, blow it out if it starts to caramelize.
Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, bourbon, honey, Razzle Dazzle and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to boil, reduce to a simmer until thickens, about 5-8 minutes.
Optional, using an immersion blender, blend until smooth.
Keeps in a bottle in the fridge for 2 weeks.
